Uplive Crowns Winner of “Singing For the World” Competition

Announced by Paula Abdul, Zandra Tan, aka ZandyStorm and Lawrence Leeway won the virtual singing competition, receiving $10,000 Prize, national recording contract, and worldwide promotion

September 3, 2020, New York, NY – Following Tuesday night’s finale of its first annual Singing for the World Competition, live streaming platform, Uplive, today announced the winners of the $10,000 grand prize and national recording contract. Two winners will share the cash prize and will be promoted globally on the app. Champion ZandyStorm will also have a session with a Grammy-winning producer. In partnership with Z100, KIIS FM, and iHeartMedia, this event is setting the stage for a future of talent competitions in a post COVID-19 world.

ZandyStorm and Lawrence Leeway entered the competition with the hopes of bringing their talent to the world. The runner up, Jennifer Huang, received 50,000 U-coins, which are redeemable for cash prizes on the app.

ZandyStorm, a Philliphine national living in the US, won the Champion Rank, with the most “gifts” from viewers, as well as the judges’ vote. She said, “All of my life I have been a singer, but I have also been a dancer, a teacher, and best of all, a mother. In the Philippines, I competed in Philippine Idol, Pinoy Pop Superstar, andPinoy Idol; I also sang in a band throughout college and sang for GMA 7 Cebu City television. I am excited to continue my journey, and I thank all who have believed in me and supported me at every point in my journey!”

Leeway said, “Since I was little, when I learned to sing, I always wanted to be a songwriter. It’s really cool to be speaking with you.”

Paula Abdul congratulated the winners while live on stream and encouraged them to continue their pursuit of dreams, “It’s well deserved, it’s just the beginning.”

The platform hosted the first annual Singing for the World competition throughout the month of August, with the mission of finding the world’s best upcoming performers from the comfort of their homes. The event attracted over 4,000 participants who showcased their talent through live streaming on Uplive. Pop legend and veteran singing competition judge, Paula Abdul, was also in attendance to announce and congratulate the winners of the competition and offer guidance as they embark on musical careers.

Throughout the competition, participants “went live” and showcased their talent to the worldwide audiences and collected their votes. All participants were eligible to earn base pay and gift commissions. Uplive is offering super host contracts with base pay of between $400-$20000 plus commissions to talented performers.
