You asked for it, so here it goes…..

Submitter:  Nervous Nelly
Location:  Chicago, IL

Q:  For the past 3 months I’ve been dating a wonderful man I truly adore.  We’re both responsible adults, but recently during sexual intercourse the condom broke.  About 6 months ago I found out I’ve contracted an STD, but I haven’t told him this.  I’m nervous because I don’t know if I should tell him or keep this to myself.  I’m afraid if I tell him, he will leave.  What should I do?

A:  (Just getting off the floor from passing out……)    NN, you’re lucky this is a Christian based website, because if it wasn’t I would be cussing.    It’s ironic you’re asking this question on the TRUTH bowl, because you should take our name to heart and tell the TRUTH (then duck)…..  This is something you should have discussed with him prior to the first time you slept with him regardless to whether it was protected or not.  With the rising numbers of STD’s (curable and incurable), it’s time-out for hiding your status.   If he was to walk away, I believe you should be understanding to this.  Not because you have an STD, but because you took his right to decide whether or not he would sleep with someone who could change his life.   This was a selfish act on your part, so man up and deal with it….

Here’s the truth…..

Many times in life we take for granted the “freedom of choice” of others.  We instantly assume they are not forgiving of our situation, mature enough to handle our situation, or they’ve sided with society and written people with our situation off.  In this event we protect “OURSELVES” by withholding the “TRUTH”.  In withholding the truth we give a false perception of who we are.  Whether or not we speak, our actions have lied.  Taking the choice from the other party involved is a selfish act, one in which can never be taken back if the other persons life is impacted negatively.   Honesty is always the best policy regardless to whether you are asked the right questions or not, some thing’s should just be told.  The truth is….. Taking the “freedom of choice” from others is a LIE….
