Christians That Celebrate Christmas: Worthy of Being Condemned?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

With Christmas right around the corner I see an increasing trend that really disturbs me, people attacking those who celebrate Christmas. You would think I am referring to those of the secular world who see Christmas as an unwanted intrusion of God into what otherwise would be a great holiday.

Sadly I am not referring to those folks, I am speaking of other Believers in Christ.

Lets go back for a moment to the secular world. I try not to disparage unbelievers, but I do take exception to some of their practices as related to Christmas. Christmas for some is nothing more than an excuse to throw a party and get drunk. Others will stop at nothing to get “the deals” in the stores including pushing and shoving, even hurting others. These actions are deplorable.

For yet others, Believers and unbelievers both Christmas is a time of painful memories: a recent loss of a loved one, a divorce, or maybe a job loss. For all of these folks we should be praying, especially for those not saved in Christ that they may come to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and in so doing find healing for their painful wounds.

Why do some who believe in Jesus find it necessary to attack other Believers who celebrate Christmas? This is so wrong…

While true that the Bible does not tell us to celebrate the birth of Yeshua, still there is nothing wrong with doing so.

Romans 14:5-6 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord…

This could be no clearer for us…in other words celebrating a day (Christmas here) or choosing not to celebrate it, either choice is allowable and acceptable.

While discussing our differences on Christmas or Easter etc. is fine, attacking one another is completely unacceptable behavior.

Romans 14:10 You then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.

Romans 14:13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another…

Whether or not you realize it, if you attack another Believer for celebrating Christmas, you are passing judgment on that person. You are in effect condemning him or her because of their actions that you believe to be wrong.

I implore all my brothers and sisters in the Lord, please do not attack and condemn your own family members…the body of Christ, because their choices differ from your own. Whether you choose to celebrate Christmas, or you choose to not do so…either choice is acceptable. Whatever your choice is, do so unto the Lord.

No Believer in Christ should be attacking another for any reason let alone over an inconsequential matter. Instead let us all bless one another and be praying for each other.

If we as Believers in Christ are truly not of this world…and we are not, then what business do we have acting like the world does?

In this ever changing chaotic world we live in, with things becoming worse all over, shouldn’t we concentrate on loving one another, forgiving each other, and extending the hand of fellowship to each other?

Give the gift that keeps on giving…encourage your brothers and sisters in Christ; let them know that you love them. Pray for them unceasingly…in so doing these things we are fulfilling Christ’s command; love your neighbor as yourself.

May the love of the Lord fill your heart to overflowing.

May His peace be intertwined with your spirit.

Love to all in Christ

“Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.”

      Jeremiah 10:2-5

The problem is not the believers who believe that Christ was born in the winter (though He was born when grass was in the fields in order that the sheep might eat and, therefore, that shepherds would be in the filed with them so that they might receive the revelation, by angel, of His birth) but the systemic corruption that leads to the propagation of this lie; pastors are led astray in misguided seminaries by ignorant teachers, and so the lies spread like cancer until the entirety of the faith is intermarried with false teachings. X-mas is a Christianized pagan celebration; in its pagan form, it IS an excuse to get drunk, partake in orgies, and, at the end (in some cultures), indulge in human sacrifice.

Idolatry, according to John, is THE sin that leads to death (I John 4:21).

Some say “Put Christ back in X-mas”; I say “Take Christ OUT!” It is a damnable festival, and any Christian, once confronted with the truth, who continues to indulge in it encourages the judgment of God. And just to address the issue now, here’s another link about Easter:

THE BIRTHDAY OF THE SUN WAS SELECTED—”The early Christians, who attributed to Christ not only the title (Kyrios) but also many other honors that the pagans paid to their ‘divine’ emperors, naturally felt inclined to honor the birth of the Saviour. In most places the commemoration of Christ’s birth was included in the Feast of the Epiphany (Manifestations) on January 6, one of the oldest annual feasts.

“Soon after the end of the last great persecution, about the year 330, the Church of Rome definitely assigned December 25 for the celebration of the birth of Christ. For a while, many Eastern Churches continued to keep other dates, but toward the end of the fourth century the Roman custom became universal.

“No official reason has been handed down on ecclesiastical documents for the choice of this date. Consequently, various explanations have been given to justify the celebration of the Lord’s nativity on this particular day. Some early Fathers and writers claimed that December 25 was the actual date of Christ’s birth . .

“It was expressly stated in Rome that the actual date of the Saviour’s birth was unknown and that different traditions prevailed in different parts of the world.

“A second explanation was of theological-symbolic character. Since the Bible calls the Messiah the ‘Sun of righteousness’ (Malachi 4:2), it was argued that His birth had to coincide with the beginning of a new solar cycle, that is, He had to be born at the time of the winter solstice . . This explanation, though attractive in itself, depends on too many assumptions that cannot be proved and lacks any basis of historical certitude.

“There remains then this explanation, which is the most probable one, and held by most scholars in our time: the choice of December 25 is influenced by the fact that the Romans, from the time of Emperor Aurelian (275), had celebrated the feast of the sun god (Sol Invictus: the Unconquered Sun) on that day. December 25 was called the ‘Birthday of the Sun,’ and great pagan religious celebrations of the Mithras cult were held all through the empire. What was more natural than that the Christians celebrate the birth of Him Who was the ‘Light of the World’ and the true ‘Sun of righteousness’ on this very day? The popes seem to have chosen December 25 precisely for the purpose of inspiring the people to turn from the worship of a material sun to the adoration of Christ the Lord. This thought is indicated in various writings of contemporary authors.

“It has sometimes been said that the Nativity is only a ‘Christianized pagan festival.’ However, the Christians of those early centuries were keenly aware of the difference between the two festivals—one pagan and one Christian—on the same day. The coincidence in the date, even if intended, does not make the two [p. 62] celebrations identical. Some newly converted Christians who thoughtlessly retained external symbols of the sun worship on Christmas Day were immediately and sternly reproved.”—Francis X. Weiser, Handbook of Christian Feasts and Customs (New York: Harcourt, Brace and World, Inc., 1958), 60-62.

The personification of planets, forces and aspects of consciousness are simply poetic imaging and poetic symbolism. Yet people take them literally, as a child may take literally the spirit of Santa Claus.

The name Jesus is a name that was attributed to this character’s story by the priests under the directorship of Constantine in the Third Century, when he directed that the church priests of Rome come together and create a Holy Universal Roman Church. The word “universal” in Latin being the same as the word “catholic.” There was a family of Rome(Piso) deeply involved in the writing of these documents that became the New Testament.

This was an attempt to create a Roman religion that would counter the Hebrew or Jewish religion of the time. It was recognized during these times the importance of having a mythical body of knowledge that held people together as a cultural group to help meld them into a single unit. Religion was seen as a way of population control and Rome had been relying on both Hebrew and Greek mythologies which were causing them to be a second-rate culture, without an identity of their own. Therefore, not being cohesive or unified, the various sects and religions in Rome were about to tear the country apart. Constantine saw the need for a unified or catholic religion.

After the religion had been compiled in such a way that it brought all of the various sects or religions together, everything from Krishna to the Helios philosophy or religion. Helios was sun-centered with twelve signs that became the “son” and his twelve disciples. The Krishna religion taught of a virgin birth, bringing Krishna to India, born of the virgin to bring hope to humanity and being hanged for his efforts, but rising and continuing after his death. The works of Apollonius of Tyana were also brought in.

The question at that time was: “What shall we call the hero of our story?”, and many of these priests decided to call him Zeus, for Zeus seemed to be the most fitting name. It referred to the planet Jupiter, which meant “one who gives all forms of blessing and bounty.” But there were those who objected and said, “Zeus is a Greek name; we don’t want Greek gods running Rome.” And so they went back and discussed further and after many various considerations, they settled on the word Jesus.
