Life Was Pursuing Eternity

I went to the cemetery last Saturday,

I was early for a funeral, so I sat quietly

on a bench surrounded by flowers, a welcome mercy.

I took a deep breath and to my surprise, I saw life’s vitality,

shimmering trees swayed in the breeze, adorned with greenery,

lush green grass bristled beneath me, adding to the finery.

Vocal birds flew across the skies, chirping a lively melody.

Glorious gravestones decorated the scene, monuments to memory.

I closed my eyes and no more the surprise, for life was pursuing eternity.
