Knelt

before

God’s majesty,

adoring

such magnificence,

such awe inspiring

enormity,

I am a speck of dust.

Human,

prone

to decaying,

subject to

life’s scars,

to wrinkles,

to rust,

called to trust.

Knelt

to worship,

I am aware

through prayer

that I am

loved beyond

measure,

even if,

I were

the Father’s

tiniest thought.

Hearing

a gospel

cry

of endeavour,

of valour,

of integrity,

here, I am taught.

Knelt

in a posture

of prayer,

I accept

that I

am a droplet

of water,

flowing

towards

an eternal ocean.

Heart,

mind,

soul,

grateful,

awash with

sacred emotion.

Knelt

in surrender,

I am emptied

of the vanity

of useless pride.

Humbled

by the water,

the blood,

flowing freely

from Christ’s side.

Knelt

alone,

I am loved

into being,

sustained

throughout,

nurtured.

A journey

embarked upon

that began,

in baptising water,

offering

a blessed hope,

at times uncertain,

while at others

sure footsteps

taken upon

heaven’s path

enthusiastically,

yet often

tentatively ventured.

Knelt,

cradled

by hope,

held gently

in protective arms,

I am called

by my name.

Enkindled,

enthused

by the

Holy Spirit’s

intoxicating,

igniting,

flame.

Knelt,

tonight,

I am aware

that

in Christ,

I possess

all that I need.

He who was

poured out

from the cross,

that one

obedient

sacrifice,

I strive to heed.
