The King on the Cross

The King on the Cross

From the bloody

savagery of the cross,

there reigns the King,

the Servant King

whose said;

“do this in memory of me”

a commandment for the whole of history.

As subject of the King

my role, my duty

is to see the King’s true beauty,

to establish on earth

a kingdom of truth,

justice, love, holiness

grace and a peace too.

a kingdom               

where Christ’s eternal song will loudly sing!

Disturbing my comfort

shaking my inactivity

challenging my resolve

to see the King on the Cross triumphant.

I can only speak truth

when truth makes a home with me,

only seek justice

when justice walks beside me,

only create peace

when peace is my faithful companion,

only receive grace

when I am humble

enough to bow down

to touch the earth’s dust,

only achieve holiness

when my heart

invites the King on the Cross

to reign in my own heart, and so inspire me.
