I’ll be in your heart forever
As an emerging, inquisitive youth.
I heard a call, that spoke a timeless truth.
“I will be in your heart forever”
I am aware ever since,
no further need to convince,
of Christ’s reassuring presence
in every grace filled aspect,
and each faithful attempt,
every sacred moment,
all prompted by that same love’s endeavour.
For I am engaged in navigating
the flowing seas of my heart’s journeying,
each triumph is indebted to Christ residing there forever.
This heart is cluttered, spaces filled with complexity
Dusty in parts, a store full of memory, with glimpses of simplicity
Areas within my heart remain reassuringly spic and span
Never empty, for Christ promised forever to be present,
this the past, present and future beating heart of a rapidly ageing man.
