Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Feast date: Nov 21

The Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated annually on November 21st, commemorates the presentation of the Blessed Virgin as a child by her parents in the Temple in Jerusalem. Before Mary’s birth, her parents received a heavenly message that they would bear a child. In thanksgiving for the God’s gift of Mary’s birth, they brought her to the Temple to consecrate their only daughter to The Lord. The celebration of the Feast is first documented in the 11th century within the Byzantine Catholic Church. It was introduced into the Roman Catholic Church in the 15th century by Pope Gregory XI, then removed from the calendar by Pope Pius V in the mid 16th century. Pope Sixtus V later reestablished the feast in 1585, and it is still celebrated today, commemorating the faith of her parents, Joachim and Anne, and the purity of Mary.

From the recollection of several mystics (all were saintly women, and not one single man was privy of such visions), the very private life of the Blessed Virgin Mary may be known in the following terms, which gives more information than this article which, due to obvious restrictions from any public publications such as CNA is necessarily restrained.

St. Joachim was a “son of David” and St. Anne was a “daughter of Aaron”. They lived modestly in Nazareth in spite of been of royal ascendancy, after the bloodline of David had been stripped of most of their possession, mainly by the branch of the Herod’s dynasty.
St. Elizabeth, as a young woman, came to assist St. Anne for delivery. The Blessed Virgin was therefore only seen nude once for just a few minutes after her birth, and it was only by saintly women. This detail is important for the centuries to come, and in particular in our period of the most perverted immodesty and blasphemies due to a return to paganism.
When St. Anne was in labor, a violent storm was raging. A lightning strike hit a tree in front of their home while St. Joachim was waiting. Both parents were expecting a boy, and did not think that their newborn girl would be the mother of the Redeemer, the Son of the Most High. At the instant of the birth, the storm stopped and a prodigious rainbow “covering the whole of northern Palestine” and remembered by all made understand that the little Mary was special. It may be added that St. Joseph, the…

It may be added that St. Joseph, the future spouse of the BVM, was an apprentice carpenter, and it is he who made the crib of the child, as one of his first chef d’oeuvre.
Those details of the before of the Presentation are not superfluous, for they make better understand, that the little Mary of Joackim & Anne was special.
The Presentation occur while the blessed Virgin was 3 years old. She was surprisingly sage and mature. The mystic St. Maria of Agreda recalls that she never looked back at her parents while entering the Temple for a stay of a minimum of ten years, as it was in usage for the Temple Virgins. She was greeted by Anna of Phanuel (Anna the Prophetess) and by the high priest.
It is understood that the BVM never saw Her dad alive, and rarely Her mom again. The BVM became orphan of both parents shortly after the Presentation at the Temple. The devil attempted to make Her sin, by mounting a cabal of the other virgins who were jealous, but to no avail. From her Presentation, she grew in wisdom, having the modest hope to remain virgin as to be able to be fit for becoming a handmaid of the “Virgin of the Emmanuel”, something She confessed Anna of Phanuel, who was the mistress supervising all the Temple Virgins. The Blessed Virgin Mary never though an instant that She would become the Mother of God.
An other detail which may complete the scene of the Presentation. The devil or Satan who at once had suspected that the little Mary…

The devil or Satan who at once had suspected that the little Mary of Joachim and Anne was “the woman who will crush his head”, ceased to tempt Her when She wed St. Joseph at the Temple. The wise-crack Satan did not think that is was a chaste marriage, “without noces” while Joseph and Mary lived in their separate homes at Nazareth.

Satan never suspected that the BVM was “that woman” until Jesus Christ was baptized on the Jordan River many years later. The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a child was a key passage onto the road of the Redemption.

Thank you CNA for mentioning this feast: the world needs to know more about the purity of the Mother of Christ, who is also our mother.
