A massive sinkhole has opened up in Brooklyn leading to a busy intersection being closed down, no injuries have been reported so far & National Grid are on site to repair damage to gas lines.

A giant sinkhole opened up in a Brooklyn intersection Tuesday morning, halting traffic on the busy roadway.

The sinkhole swallowed up most of the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 64th Street in Sunset Park at about 8 a.m., according to the Office of Emergency Management.

Traffic on Fifth Avenue, one of Sunset Park’s busiest roadways, has been diverted while crews work to repair the gaping hole.

No injuries were immediately reported.

It wasn’t clear if the sinkhole was related to severe storms that passed through the region early Tuesday.

In a stranger report over on Gizmodo they refer to this being like “Hell’s Gate” opening, with portals leading from the underworld to the surface of New York. It satirical, obviously, but in a day and age where we are living in a world where we are peircing the veil to peer into the other dimensions at CERN, anything is possible.

A large sinkhole has swallowed up an intersection in Sunset Park, on 5th Ave. and 64th St. No injuries have been reported.

The concrete shroud partitioning the dank gurgle of the Underworld has been pierced; the devil has come to claim Brooklyn. It’s not clear yet if water lines are impacted, though it appears gas lines have been affected and National Grid is on site.

Finally, ornery Ba‘alZəbûb has begun opening portals into the borough, perhaps beckoned by the gleeful immorality of $21 cold-pressed arugula, lime, and tumeric juice peddled in its more gentrified pockets, or incensed by Brooklyn’s already-swampy weather and proliferation of rats poised for subjugation at the spiky heels of Lucifer.

Mammon laughs as the street corners undulate into nothingness; the mind is its own place, and can make a heaven of hell and a hell of Brooklyn; things fall apart, the center cannot hold; there is no Dana, only Zuul.

The intersection is closed to traffic.

The reason I bring this report is due to the increased sinkhole reporting over the last few years.

The scientific meaning for a sinkhole is as follows….

A sinkhole, also known as a cenote, sink, sink-hole, shakehole, swallet, swallow hole, or doline (the different terms for sinkholes are often used interchangeably), is a depression or hole in the ground caused by some form of collapse of the surface layer.

Sinkhole’s are perfectly naturally occurances, however, add to the sinkholes the increased volcanic and seismic activity and it begins to show a planet that is under change perhaps? Only time will tell. Until then, try to stay above ground!
