Strawberry Toast

Waaaay back in 2009 I posted a short and sweet post about my favorite snack: avocado toast. It’s a simple treat – just cream cheese and sliced avocado on toasted bread – and one that I go to again and again for breakfast or a quick snack. You may have heard about this avocado toast thing – there are a whole lot of folks out there that love their avocado toast so much it has almost a cult-like following. I get it. I love it, too.

But…

After almost six (!) years of avocado toast exclusivity I’ve branched out and tried something new…

Toast + Creamy Peanut Butter + Fresh Strawberries = New Favorite Snack.

 I still love my avocado toast, but sometimes it’s good to try new things, right? This whole strawberry, peanut buttery toasty goodness came about one morning while I was in a hurry to make a quick breakfast and I thought peanut butter and jelly goes together, so why not PB&J with fresh strawberries? On toast?

Yessssss.

It really is good (what’s not to love about creamy rich peanut butter and sweet juicy strawberries?), but the best part is that one slice of strawberry toast keeps my tummy full for quite a while, which is much needed during the work week – it definitely keeps the low blood sugar hangriness away.

I like to smear my toast with a generous helping of the creamy good stuff and dice up a couple three strawberries to top it all off.

Love ya, avocado toast, but you got a little competition now.
