Parable of the Jones Brats: Union and Collective Bargaining

Mr. and Mrs. Jones have experienced years of good living because both of them were employed.  However, because of the drastic downturn in the economy, their companies have been laying off employees for the past three years.  Things have gotten so bad in the economy such that Mr. and Mrs. Jones lost their job in the same month 20 months ago.  Because of no income whatsoever, the Joneses have gone through all of their savings and have maxed out all five of their credit cards placing them $100,000 in credit card debt.  The Joneses are getting close to filing for bankruptcy.

Mr. and Mrs. Jones have two children, Dick Union Jones and Jane Collective Bargaining Jones.  Throughout their young lives, the Jones children have received a weekly allowance from their parents.  However, they have had to do chores around the house to “earn” their weekly allowances.  Their allowances were up to $10.00 per week.  However, because the Joneses have absolutely no money, are in debt up to the top of their heads, and are wondering where their next meal was coming from, they were forced to stop giving the weekly allowance to Dick and Jane.

Dick and Jane would have none of that.  They stopped working around the house, pitched fits screaming and rolling on the floor, and demanded their weekly allowances.  Mr. and Mrs. Jones pleaded with them telling them they have no money and are $100,000 in credit card debt.  They don’t know how they are going to pay the monthly payments on five maxed-out credit cards—not to mention the home mortgage, payments on two cars, utilities, and other such expenses.  All of that logic and reasoning didn’t matter to Dick and Jane.  They kept carrying on demanding their weekly allowance and expecting it no matter what.

The Joneses eventually had their homes and cars repossessed by the bank, and they are now homeless living out on the streets.  Still, Dick and Jane demanded their weekly allowance, refusing to do any work to earn money for the family, and pitching fits daily expecting to squeeze blood out of a turnip.  They plan to fight their parents to the death to continue their weekly allowances.  Mr. and Mrs. Jones fully realize they have a major problem.

Finally, one day, Mr. and Mrs. Jones abandoned their children.  They two kids were placed in foster homes where they were forced to work without any weekly allowance.  They have been very unhappy for months on end.  It is a very unfortunate ending simply because Dick and Jane refused to pitch in and cooperate with their parents to help bring income to the family.  They were nothing but spoiled brats for kids, demanded a living provided to them, and were too selfish, greedy, and stubborn to help get themselves out of their family problems.  One sad day, their foster parents found Dick and Jane dead from self-inflicted wounds.  This is a very sad story because of selfishness, greed, and stupidity.  THE END.
