There are a number of videos included here, offering face masks of different shapes and sizes. Some call for sewing, either with a machine or by hand, while others require no sewing to create the final fully functional face mask. Wishing you healthy and happy crafting.
This video shows how to take a pattern and sew a face mask with two elastic straps which go around your head, a more comfortable option than hooking bands over each ear. While not mentioned, remember you can hand sew this item if a sewing maching is not available.
This face mask is designed with elestic loops which hook over each ear. The construction is done by hand sewing the item, but if a machine is handy, do not hesitate to use it for the sewing. A mention about the elastic – would recomend stitching the ends together, by hand or a zigzag machine stitch, to ensure the ends are ‘locked’ tight. It will eliminate the elastic knot and garuantee no sudden loosening of the elastic loop.
This next face mask is crafted without any sewing, just using a fabric square and folding it into the required shape. Rubber bands or elastic hair bands are used to create the stretch loops for over each ear.
Here is another no-sew face mask crafted from a bandana.
This video and the next two show just what you can do using a t-shirt and scissors. No sewing involved!
Another face mask which requires only a little hand sewing and is designed to allow the wearer to insert a disposible filter between the fabric layers. Use a gauze 2X2 opened out to become a 2X4 placed directly where nose and mouth fit in the mouth, or use a coffee filter folded in half place in the same area. It is designed and shown in three sizes: small, medium and large for correct face coverage.

These final videos are included because they show some basic hand sewing stitches, including the back stitch (starts at the 10:00 mark on the first video) and the half back stitch shown on the second video, both of which will provide a strong stitch to hold fabrics and elastic in place for the hand sewn face mask projects presented above.
