Chinese Communist Party Funds Washington Think Tanks

This should be no surprise. The Chinese are anything but stupid and they know how important having a toe in Think Tank Washington can be. How better to keep ones finger on the policy pulse?

China is the world’s Ultimate Crony Capitalist State. It is also dominated by the Chinese Communist Party, which has seen a resurgence of Maoist thought of late. That many of the alt-Left talking points these days seem rooted in Maoism is interesting.

Note that one of the think tanks receiving funding from the Chinese is the Center for American Progress, long headed by Obama’s Counselor, former Chief of staff to Bill Clinton, and Hillary Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta. Another recipient is the highly influential Brookings Institution.

This certainly does not tar the think tanks completely. They receive funds from many different places. However, it does raise questions about talking points and policy coming out of these places on the topic of China, and perhaps beyond that subject matter.

In addition to Johns Hopkins, other think tanks funded by China and influential in American policy circles include the Brookings Institution, Atlantic Council, Center for American Progress, EastWest Institute, Carter Center, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

The Exchange Foundation is tied to Chinese government influence operations and uses the same public relations firm as the Chinese embassy.
