To End The Terror Within

The summer of 2022 will earmark one of the most violent periods this nation has had if we allow such travesties as the ones that took place this past July 4th to continue. In the years following 9-11 the United States has entrenched a cultural facade that has torn apart the very fundamentals of our democracy. The political ramifications of which have far exceeded the bounds of common curtesy, empathy and ushered in a forbearance of our emailable rights.

The pursuit of happiness has long since been replaced by an ever-encroaching dogma that has stripped away the hopes and dreams of so many millions. For years the halls of government have feverously avoided what really is necessary to restore not only the balance in our society but drastically reduce the high violent atrocities that have become a common occurrence today.

The rise of domestic terrorism which has been fully sponsored by a political callousness has exploited the growing misconception of the 2nd Amendment. When wave after wave of murder by semi and fully automatic weapons continue without the slightest intervention of the political will power to stop the mayhem as we are seeing today leaves little doubt that our political system is broken.

There is no doubt that our political system is totally inept to the tasks at hand. For decades this this writer has seen this nation being ripped apart by so many factions that have inadvertently destroyed the basic rights of man. The alarming rate at which this nation is being systematically divided is unparallel in our history. The causes of which are many.

Today, our dominate two party political system has only exasperated the divisions within. It is not just the cultural shift that has catapulted extremism to the point that compromise is out of the question entirely but a beguiled public who have placed credence on certain individuals. We have allowed these individuals to simulate a cohesiveness while actually keeping us divided. 

We have to ask ourselves do we as a nation have the where-with-all to say enough is enough especially with the volume of unprecedented amount of domestic terror of all sorts happening by not only our own government but by individuals bent on perpetrating mayhem on our society?

As sobering as that question is despite all the propaganda out there the answers are readily at hand. We can never go back to the “Good Old Days” of say the 1950′s. But, what we must do is recognize that today the United States has the ability, the technology, the resources, and the capability to restore balance in our society, put an end to the violent carnage that is sweeping all across the country and entrench the knowledge that the elusive American Dream is actually attainable for all Americans.

To accomplish what actually needs to be done there are really simple solutions for the created complex problems of today. When we all accept that housing and medical care along with adequate fresh clean water are basic rights our whole society will begin to heal the wounds that years of denial have caused.

In regard to housing the government has already established rental guidelines for affordable housing. Years ago these guidelines were actually supported and enforced. But for the past 30 years even though these guidelines were updated they have since been ignored by the bureaucratic incompetence of practically every city council and state legislatures all across the country. The 2008 housing fiasco really hasn’t gone away. The banking and financial industry have since collaborated in ensuring that affordable housing remains as allusive as ever. 

When these institutions revised set criteria for mortgages, they have set the bar way too high for most Americans to even qualify for that mortgage. Years ago, many Americans could actually afford a mortgage. But since the 1980′s when middle income jobs started to vanish due to governmental deregulations that encouraged corporate profits over job security more and more Americans fell into a vicious cycle of income deprivation. And as a result, home ownership soon became unattainable. Today incomes still fall way too short.

The inflationary nightmare we are experiencing right now are a combination of all things gone wrong by the way our own government has continually sponsored major corporations over the American public. In typical fashion our government just sent more that 5 million barrels of oil from our own US emergency reserves to Europe and Asia. This oil was intended to lower domestic fuel prices here. This is nothing more than another form of domestic terror in the form of financial profiteering at the expense of the American citizen.

The United States is on the verge of a seismic shift that could very well upend our republic. The cultural and racial divides that have really never been closed have been widened by the open rhetoric that continues to be expressed by the media and certain influential individuals. And if we continue to observe such behavior and do nothing as we are seeing today with the vast amount of armed violent atrocities, homelessness, acute poverty and hunger being displayed the terror within will destroy our nation.
