My company just did a layoff of 4%. Work for a big credit union in Canada. Mostly management and other back office staff, so looks like we’re just getting started… amazed we haven’t done anything with lending or “investment” staff yet… high interest rate environment is so bad for banks.. yet the leaders at the top constantly spew bs trying to make it look like everything is fine when it’s not. Told co workers that the last all staff call translated from corporate speak is “keep your resume up-to-date”. Funny thing, I gave my 2 week resignation notice the day before my manager got canned. And she said how she worked so hard to get a Team Lead role approved. I scratched head while reading the job description and was like.. wait.. this is what she should be doing this whole time.. organize and manage workloads, work on projects, lead the team etc .. well.. she ended up creating a job to replace hers… sad, but hilarious at the same time..
