It’s not just UPS package delivery. It’s the whole Teamster’s Union which includes port workers. It would be a complete stoppage of freight in and out of the country as well as UPS domestic shipping. Teamsters do not cross picket lines and they are in the driver’s seat to decide the strike or not. I talked about it a little with my driver. He hopes it doesn’t happen but if it does, it’s way more than just a percentage of domestic freight shippers stopping work. As far as USPS picking up the slack goes, they are already stretched pretty thin so it would not be an efficient solution to picking up UPS slack. And large shippers have contract pricing so I’m not sure how it would work to switch like that. It’s not a good situation and I don’t think the Teamsters will sell out their members to the regime the way the railroad leadership did the railroad workers.

On July 31st the largest single employer union will go on strike, and it will not only disrupt companies across the US but it will impact everyone very directly. The UPS Strike will cause much greater food shortages and will lead to many more empty shelves.

I was working at UPS in its last strike and the salespeople (account executives) took over the drivers’ jobs until a deal was reached.
