Tarryl Clark Breaks The Law In Desperation
In shocking desperation on election eve, Tarryl Clark’s campaign organized a telephone town hall with voters of the 6th district. Unfortunately, Clark broke the law by using an automated dial system to reach voters. The law in Minnesota is clear that political campaigns are prohibited from using automated phone call without prior consent.
The law provides as follows:
A caller shall not use or connect to a telephone line an automatic dialing-announcing device unless: (1) the subscriber has knowledge or voluntarily requested, consented to, permitted, or authorized receipt of the message; or (2) the message is immediately preceded by a live operator who obtains the subscriber’s consent before the message is delivered.
Bachmann for Congress received several complaints from individuals who received this random automated call. It is no surprise that Clark waited a mere few hours before polls open to pull this stunt.
Our campaign is disappointed in Clark’s behavior and we will be pursuing all legal options including filing complaints with the appropriate agencies.
