Grassroots tsunami builds to stop Obamacare

Alexandria, VA — The Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) announced Tuesday that over one million Americans have now signed the petition atDontFundObamacare.com calling on Congress to stop all funding for the implementation and enforcement of Obamacare.

“An army of Americans came together in August to stop all funding for Obamacare,” said SCF Executive Director Matt Hoskins. “When lawmakers return next week, they’re going to be hit by a grassroots tsunami.”

U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) made the following statement:

“The American people are standing up, speaking out and demonstrating their absolute disdain for the unaffordable and unfair train wreck that is Obamacare. With over 1,000,000 signatures petitioning Congress to defund Obamacare the momentum is mounting and members of both parties, in both houses, would be wise to take heed and side with the American people. With only 28 days until its implementation, I encourage citizens and my colleagues to join this cause and help defund Obamacare before it is everlastingly too late. This is our last, best chance to stop this disaster from harming the American people and our economy.”

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) made the following statement:

“The momentum we’ve seen over the past month to defund Obamacare has been incredible. More than a million people in 37 days — some 30,000 a day — have stood up to stop Obamacare, the number one job-killer in America. That’s a testament to the grassroots tsunami that is building. Defunding Obamacare by Oct. 1 is the best chance we have to stop this ‘huge train wreck,’ and we need to build on this August surge to get it accomplished. Only you can win this fight. One million strong is tremendous, but I urge patriots across America to continue pushing the petition, calling their senators and congressmen, and reaching out to folks in their communities. Working together, we will defund this economic disaster and put America back on a path to growth and prosperity.”

The official petition to stop all funding for Obamacare was launched by the Senate Conservatives Fund on July 27, 2013 at DontFundObamacare.com. The one millionth petition was signed thirty-seven days later at 6:23 am ET on September 2, 2013. Obamacare begins in twenty-eight days.
