SCF Congratulates Joni Ernst

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF) issued the following statement after conservative Joni Ernst (R-IA) was declared the winner of the Republican primary election for U.S. Senate in Iowa:

“Joni Ernst started out as the underdog, but won this race because she fought for conservative principles,” said SCF Executive Director Matt Hoskins. “She won the support of the grassroots across the state because of her bold commitment to cut wasteful spending, balance the budget, and fully repeal Obamacare. We’re very proud to have been able to help Joni Ernst win this important primary election and we look forward to helping her defeat liberal Bruce Braley in November.”

SCF invested $190,000 supporting Joni Ernst in this race. It raised $78,000 in direct contributions for the Ernst campaign and spent $112,000 on independent expenditures, including one broadcast TV ad.

The Des Moines Register recently released a poll showing that Joni Ernst was viewed by Republican primary voters as “the most conservative in the race.”

“The poll shows Ernst’s lead is significant across all demographics, factions and geographies. She does well with both men and women, with every age group, with the tea party and born-again Christians and with voters in every congressional district, including the 4th, Iowa’s most conservative district.” – Des Moines Register, 6/1/14
