Save The Planet By Planting Trees

As a consequence of cutting down trees, we lose up to six billion trees annually. There is so much that is created from trees and this means there is a big demand in the marketplace. Such as lumber to build houses, paper for writing on and even toilet paper for, well you know. And unfortunately, we need the products that the trees produce but we can do something about the depletion of our timberlands. (in Dutch: Durable Energy)

Although we have Arbor Day, and all of us must plant a tree every Arbor Day, that is simply taking care of a small part of the problem. In reality, trees are not being planted by the majority of the population. It would help, obviously, if everyone participated and planted a tree.

The worldwide population is possibly approximately in the 7 billion mark. That is simply an approximation because you can’t keep an exact count. But then, if each of those 7 billion people went out and planted a tree every Arbor Day, we would be replacing all the trees that were cut down that year. Unfortunately, this won’t ever happen.

If you want to maintain our environment, planting trees is a positive step that you can take. And I don’t mean to simply go out once a year and plant a tree. I am talking about once per month or even once per week. It is just a fact that a lot of people will never give any thought to conservation or planting trees, so we have to make up for this ourselves.

Figures suggest that anywhere up to 15 million trees are planted on Arbor Day. Based on that, we nevertheless need to take that number up by a further 5 billion. Unfortunately, things are not improving. (in Dutch: Alternatieve Energiebronnen)

I actually have a solution to the problem entirely although individuals should nevertheless keep on planting trees whenever they can. It could be made a legal requirement that anyone involved in cutting down trees must replace each tree felled with two newly planted ones and this would go a long way to solving the problem.

But then, until somebody has the presence of mind to make this a reality, we are left to take care of replacing the trees ourselves. In reality, restoring the amount of trees required is definitely possible. If each month, around 10% of people in the world could plant a tree, that would make up for the numbers being felled each year. Approximately 7 billion new trees would be planted by doing this. And that 1 billion surplus of trees are precisely what we need to get our tree population back to where it should be.

Planting a tree is a way we can all make a contribution to the earth. Keep in mind that we only need 10% of the world’s population to commit to this. It is up to you if you want to be part of it.
