Fake Snow?? Chemically Nucleated Snow Wrecking Havoc Around the Globe

Snow that turns black, smells like styrofoam plastic, and sublimates when burned with a Bic lighter or a match, is a hot topic on the Internet this week. Commenters explain away the plastic smell as butane from the lighter (Having smelled both, they seem dissimilar.) They say that snow is 5 or 10% water and the air sucks in the ice crystals, so it doesn’t melt fast (as it used to?) They say the flames cause the sublimation/evaporation and that’s why there are only a few drops of melted snow into water.

Forget the lighter. The lighter is a distraction. (Some vids show the same blackening with a match, but let’s ignore them for this discussion.) It’s 44 degrees right now, just outside of Boston. Because I thought it was unusual for 43+ degree snow here 3 weeks ago, (Interesting note: AccuWeather just put up a vid that purports to explain this (although they don’t explain the sudden increase).), so I decided to have a look at snow remaining from a six inch accumulation earlier this week. I took pictures. They clearly illustrate what I describe. (I am new at BIN posting and so if the pix did not attach, will someone please tell me how to do it?!)

. 1) On a 44 degree day, past snow melts have produced torrents of water flooding into an area drain for surrounding condos. There is no water torrent, just trickling. 2). 
The snow is composed of little beads, not snow, not ice, but little ice beads about the size of cous cous when cooked. Some areas of the tiptop layer seem to have tendrils sticking above the overall surface like they melted as a crystalline structure of stalagmites. 3). The beads appear translucent in the sun and appear something like soap bubbles all across the surface. 4. The pattern of the melt is lattice or weblike and the overall melt appears to be in circular patches. 

I compressed these ice pellets into a solid mass in a metal one cup measure and let it sit at room temperature until it entirely melted 3 hours 15 minutes later. I plan to measure the amount of water from the melt and re freeze it and then thaw it again alongside ice from regular water. I’ll let you know what I find.

Here’s what I think. Snow has never looked like beads before unless it was sleet, right? (This wasn’t sleet.)  Snow normally doesn’t melt in lattice or lace like formations, does it? (Although I’m sure it can.) It has never melted in little circle patches that I know of. It has not looked like translucent soap bubbles in the sun. It did not have little tendril filaments sticking up above the melting surface that I can remember. 

My thought is that both the 40+ degree snow, now suddenly common, and the sublimating, apparently chemically affected ice beads that seem to perform odd bonding in my yard, could be geo-engineered snow. Purpose: unknown. Some believe it’s to combat global warming. Some believe its for use with HAARP.  Some believe its genocide. What CAN be known, even from just looking at my pix…is…that this snow has properties that, when viewed together, seem to point to fake snow.
