The Impact of Rising Sea Levels

We are at a crossroads in life where we need to decide what is more important to us, it is consumables and having the biggest and best of everything, or is it that we need to have a planet for future generations?

World leaders are trying to make changes to the environment to slow down global warming, but how can reducing our spend on consumables help with their plight?

Simply put, because our sea levels are rising at a vast rate, land is eroding, storms are greater, flooding is fact, and the atmosphere isn’t letting out heat. We need to reduce our use of gases and oils (fossil fuels) and replace them with a more eco-friendly way of living.

If our planet isn’t treated with more care and consideration there won’t be a planet come the new few thousand years. And, yes we won’t be here but future generations will and they will suffer immensely with lack of land space, and rising water levels, it’s all fun and games holidaying on a boat but not everybody in the world can live on boats, can they!

Looking at the infographic below we have outlined a number of key US states where rising sea levels are likely to become a problem if we don’t start to tackle the greenhouse effect, climate change and global warming.  

In just 1,000 years time it is estimated that sea levels could rise by 20 metres, meaning the loss of numerous coastal resorts, beaches, villages, towns and even cities. More communities will have to relocate inland and start afresh, land will become a premium, and people will fight for space – all because we didn’t change our ways in 2018.

Small changes can make all the difference. Start by buying less gas guzzling vehicles, use less water, turn off plug sockets when not in use, travel with public transport where possible, and use less aerosols.
