Has Russia been shooting down US missiles and Israeli planes in Syria?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

TAP – a few months ago Trump ordered 50 Tomahawk missiles be fired against an airfield near Damascus.  The cruise missiles duly left the navy ships but, despite costing 10s of million $s apiece, very few seemed to arrive at their target, if any.  I blogged at the time that this might suggest Russia had developed a laser anti-missile system. Recently Syria shot down an Israeli fighter plane, which shocked the Israelis as their defences against Surface to Air Missiles are meant to be second to none.  Was this  plane also shot down with the use of a laser?  All the talk has been of Russia’s S-400 anti-missile system, but was that really a cover story for what’s actually shooting planes and missiles from the skies? With Britain for some reason keen to send her armed forces to oblivion in the Middle East and Ukraine, by deliberately chilling relations with Putin, is he now making it abundantly clear what his military capabilities are, with the intention of deterring such potential aggressors as Treason May, Paper Boy Williamson and Bollocks Johnson.  Poetic justice would it be if these three fools found themselves exposed to fire from a rechargeable laser weapon.  If there’s an airborne version as suggested in the post, maybe it could target politically unintelligent creatures in London who can’t keep their mouths shut, and spare the rest of the British people, who have nothing but respect for Russian culture and military capabilities.

36 out of the 59 Tomahawk missiles fired by NATO go ‘missing’

POST from sputniknews.com Nuclear-Powered Anti-Missile System? What Russia’s Combat Laser May Be Used For

During his address to the Federal Assembly, President Vladimir Putin shocked observers when he said that Russia’s progress in laser weaponry was “not just a concept or a plan,” and that the army was already being equipped with combat lasers. But what are these weapons actually for? Veteran military analyst Viktor Murakhovsky may have the answer.

“Most likely, this system solves air defense and missile defense tasks,” Murakhovsky, editor-in-chief of Arsenal of the Fatherland, a Russian military publication, explained. “The use of a laser beam is far more economical than the use of standard anti-missile missiles. At the same time, its accuracy is far greater,” he added.

Murakhovsky noted that he could not rule out that the source of energy for the laser’s pulse may come from a portable nuclear power plant. For his part, Alexander Khramchikhin, director of the Moscow-based Institute of Political & Military Analysis, suggested that based on current global trends, Russia’s new battle lasers are most likely designed with close-range air defense in mind, and specifically for the destruction of drones and cruise missiles.

According to Khramchikhin, “strategic lasers simply cannot exist – the laws of physics simply do not permit it.”

Speaking to the nation on March 1, President Putin revealed that Russia had “achieved significant progress in laser weapons,” and that “combat laser systems” began to be delivered into the military last year. Putin’s remarks were complimented by a video showing off what appears to be a heavy, truck-mounted laser platform, whose name and intended purpose remain classified.

“I do not want to reveal more details. It is not the time yet. But experts will understand that with such weaponry, Russia’s defense capacity has multiplied,” Putin added.

Along with the combat laser, Putin also showed off a series of other new, breakthrough weapons, including the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, the Avangard hypersonic strategic missile, an ultra-long-range underwater drone platform, and more.Crimean lawmaker Natalya Poklonskaya proposed calling the laser system ‘Crimea’, and the drone platform Sevastopol, “in honor of the historical reunification of Russian lands” in 2014.

In related news, last week, an informed source told Russian media that engineers had completed work on an airborne laser capable of shooting down satellites.
