Leaders of Italy’s government, Matteo Salvini and Luigi Di Maio, have expressed support for protests by wearing yellow vests with ‘French’ imprinted on the garments. Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio urged French demonstrators not to surrender because a new Europe is being born, and was widely publicised by media.

“In both France and Italy, politicians have become deaf before citizens demands, excluded from the most important decisions affecting the people,” said the leader of the 5-star M5S Movement Di Maio believes the ‘spirit’ of the protests in neighbouring France are similar to the one that led to the creation of the ethno-patriot revolution that has overtaken Italy.

Luigi Di Maio says, “Like other governments, the one in France is especially concerned with representing the interests of elites, those who take advantage of privileges, not of the people.”

The Italian premier goes on to praise his platform model called Rousseau, which is the electoral strategy used for organising events, selecting candidates or setting up the electoral programs.

“Have you not learned,” Luigi Di Maio says. “M5S, four years after its creation, despite the attacks, entered the (Italian) Parliament. And, less than nine years later, we are now in power, and those who laugh at us now have disappeared from the political scene.”

“A new Europe is born; the Yellow Vests movement and direct democracy.  It’s a tough battle that we can take together. But you, the yellow vests, do not surrender,” insists the leader of M5S, but adds that he disapproves of the violent scenes that marked the protests in France.

The leader of the far-right League, Matteo Salvini, deputy prime minister and interior minister, said he supported “honest citizens protesting against a president who ruled against his own people,” alluding to Emmanuel Macron , with whom last year had several exchanges of replies, in which the French president insisted that, in his opinion, the European Parliamentary elections in 2019 would no longer be a confrontation between the left and the right, but one between his globalists and ethno-nationalists, including Viktor Orban and Matteo Salvini.
