Rishi Sunak’s cuts will be more brutal than austerity. Remember: they are a choice, not a necessity

Firstly, ‘Austerity’ was very far from brutal. As I remember it, they didn’t even lower Government spending, they just lowered projected increases in Government spending

And that was before Covid. Printing billions to pay healthy people to stay at home from work. Myself included. Three bastarding months wondering if I’ll have a job to go back to, when I should have been doing it. I got a lot of DIY done around the house, but it was obvious from day one that this money would have to be paid back and the economy would be up the shitter because of it

So with that in mind, cuts are not a choice and they most certainly are necessary

This is the part i don’t like; where I end up looking like I’m defending the Conservative party. I’m not, I’m just pointing out how little Polly Poppet understands the British system of Government

We don’t vote for a Pime Minister, we vote for a party. The leader of that party, however arrived at, then becomes PM. So Rishi is legitimate, is elected and does have a manifesto

What she should be directing here ire on, is the fact that they call temselves Conservatives, but do not have any Conservative policies. In fact they are so close to the Labour party these days, they should be right up Pollys street

The rest of the article is mostly incoherent waffle

captain and chancellor will crack the whip, batten down the public spending hatches and cut rations and pay

This idea that the Government cuts pay, really grips my shit. The Government increase pay year on year by increasing the national minimum wage. A pay cut in the eyes of your typical champagne socialist, is when the Government does not increase the NMW as much as they would like

Of course, the NMW can never be high enough, as each increase, also increases the cost of goods and services. Something beyond the pigeon logic of Polly Poppet

Everyone talks of “hard choices”. But remember they are choices. This threatened programme of austerity is a political choice, not an economic necessity

Public services are at breaking point

No to austerity, but won’t somebody please think of the public services. I’m not sure which public services are supposed to be at breaking point. She of course mentions the NHS, but that has been broken since the diversity officers started to outnumber the nurses

So what’s her solution. Of course it’s to, tax the ‘rich’. It always is with these morons

Voters may not mind that the new prime minister is richer than the King, but it doesn’t help if he ignores starving children when only families living on less than a shocking £7,400 get free school meals

Voters may not mind if he’s richer than the king. Others may question how wise that is. Some may be seeing red about it. But at the end of the day, whatever you think about the PMs wealth, people who have children should be responsible for feeding them and nobody should get taxpayer funded (not free) school meals

If we had a true Conservative party with true Conservative MPs, they would lower taxes considerably and find many ways to reduce Government spending to pay for it. They would also add responsibility to austerity and teach people the importance of having it

As it happens, I really don’t think Polly has much to worry about
