Finger lickin' racist

Oh dear. Accusations of racism get sillier by the day, but I think I’ve just read the silliest one so far this year (although there’s plenty of time). Thanks to AK Haart for the link

Just to be clear, my mission here is not to defend Walkers Crisps, and certainly not Gary Lineker. The man’s a muppet. I’m just pointing out how far down the rabbit hole accusations of racism have gone

The advert, which promotes the company’s new tie-in with KFC, has been described as racist for perpetuating a negative stereotype of black people liking fried chicken

The row is about black people being shown to like fried chicken. The fact that black people actually do like fried chicken, appears to be beside the point. The simple act of showing that black people like fried chicken, is racist

But only if you’re Walkers Crisps, for some reason. KFC Have been showing black people liking fried chicken for years. In fact I can barely remember the last time I saw a white person in a KFC advert. They take the black people / chicken stereotype so far, that in the advert where you’re told to ‘Feel like a big deal’, it’s said in a ridiculously over-the-top, black gangsta accent

This is how fried chicken is advertised by KFC, but for some reason, that’s not as racist as Walkers Crisp including some black people in their advert

You know, there are so many black people in all adverts theese days, I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason black people were cast in this one, was simply because they couldn’t find any white actors left

Robert Wilson, owner of the London-based FOMO model agency, whose roster is mostly non-white talent, told how he was surprised when Walkers approached his company to request black and mixed-race people to appear in the advert, suggesting it was tokenism.

And there it is. This guy has a casting agency who only takes on dark skinned actors. This is the way it’s going, white people are no longer worth hiring, as it’s blacks only for adverts now, however when there is a bit of a pushback on the way these actors are used, he then goes on to say that yes, he thought it was a bit funny, even though he still supplied the actors for it, without presumably, mentioning it at the time

He told The Mail on Sunday: “It’s controversial because you’ve got your white Gary Lineker who has fronted all the campaigns, and then a black barber and mixed-race twins

How? How is that controversial? What does he want? Every actor to be white? You can bet your arse that isn’t it

According to Claire Schmidt, of the University of Missouri, the negative connotations of black people and fried chicken stem from the days of slavery.
This is because slaves in the southern United States would eat the dish as a cheap source of meat, she explained.

And that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard in a long, long time. Slaves used to eat fried chicken, so showing black people eating it is now racist? So where was she through all the other KFC adverts with black folk eating chicken?

And why do all these brainless, cognitively challenged, single digit IQ morons work for universities?

Fried chicken has been and still is, very popular in the south. Not just for black people, it’s almost a staple diet for white people too. Just listen to some country music; fried chicken is as common as pick up trucks and errant wives taking thier love to town

And below is why I stated earlier that I wasn’t defending Walkers Crisps here:
