The History of Craft Beer Festivals

Craft beer festivals have become a staple event for beer enthusiasts worldwide. These festivals offer a unique opportunity for breweries to showcase their latest creations, connect with fellow brewers, and gain exposure to new audiences. The craft beer industry has been booming in recent years, and it’s no surprise that brew fests have been popping up all over the country.

The first beer festival in the United States can be traced back to the early 1980s. The Great American Beer Festival (GABF) was founded in Boulder, Colorado, in 1982, and it’s still going strong today. GABF attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world and has become the largest beer festival in the United States.

In the early days of craft beer, breweries struggled to gain exposure and recognition. Brew fests provided an opportunity for these small, independent breweries to showcase their products to a broader audience. Over time, these events became more popular, and more breweries began participating.

Largest Craft Brewing Industry Event in the Country

Today, brew fests like the Craft Brewers Conference have become a staple event for beer enthusiasts and brewing companies alike, and it’s easy to see why. These events offer brewing company business owners and their staff a chance to connect and network with other industry members. Plus, visitors have the opportunity to sample various beers from different breweries and learn more about the brewing process. This year, the Craft Brewers Conference is expecting more than 11,000 attendees.

Craft breweries are more than neighborhood gathering holes. They are important economic drivers. Craft beer is a $26.8 billion industry in the U.S., with Tennessee home to more than 140 breweries, representing $1.3 million in economic impact for the state.

The Craft Brewers Conference offers affordable brewing education and idea sharing to help improve brewery quality and performance. Attendees can choose from eight educational tracks led by industry leaders. Examples of educational tracks include Brewing Operations & Beer Styles, Business & Leadership and Quality & Ingredients. In addition, participants can customize their conference experience by picking tracks to meet their needs.

Brew fests like the Craft Brewers Conference also provide an opportunity for breweries to get feedback on their products and connect with new customers. These events can be a great way to gain exposure and build a following for small, independent breweries.

The Craft Brewers Conference will conclude with the awards ceremony for the 2023 World Beer Cup® (WBC), the biggest beer competition in the world. This “Olympics of beer” celebrates the art and science of brewing and brings new ingredients and techniques to the largest stage for international brewing.

Pharmacy Burger: An East Nashville Institution
