Resonant to introduce 5G wireless filter technology at conference in Japan

Resonant Inc (NYSE:RESN) said Tuesday it will be introducing 5G wireless filter technology at the International Ultrasonics Symposium being held in Kobe, Japan, later in the month.

The technology is designed to offer a cost-effective filter operating at frequencies of 3GHz (gigahertz) and higher, making it the first filter technology designed from the beginning for 5G. Gigahertz is a term commonly used to measure computer processing speeds.

“The high bandwidth 5G data services will operate at frequencies of 3.5GHz – 6GHz and higher, but today’s best filter technologies have limitations operating at these frequencies,” said Resonant CEO George Holmes.

“The early results from our XBAR initiative are very promising and we are working hard to provide a cost-effective, high-performance option for 5G services.”

The term 5G refers to fifth generation cellular technology. It will provide quicker downloads and increased connectivity to make business more efficient. Autonomous cars, smart communities, and immersive education, among others, will rely on 5G for “Internet of Everything” applications.

More details on the technology will be presented at the conference in Japan, Resonant said.

Resonant shares were up 1.65 to $3.31 in early trade on Tuesday.

Resonant is a company that aims to deliver solutions that leverage its Infinite Synthesized Network (ISN) software tools platform. The company is based in Goleta, California.
