Law, Regulation and Blockchain

OFN CEO Juan Hernandez recently did a podcast with SEC attorney Pat Daugherty of Foley & Lardner LLP.
It’s attached above and it is good information.  Both are based in Chicago.

OFN became the first regulated security token platform in the US. They started trading in November and since have increased volume and added a couple of more tokens to the platform.  We learned a lot along the way.  It’s hard to be first.

Their conversation covers the differences between ATS’s and exchanges, why crypto exchanges are different from security token exchanges, working with regulators, and hopes of what the security token industry will look like in the future.

Juan also just published a blogpost on why regulation is necessary for crypto markets to work.

Some background on Juan.  He is a veteran of technology and electronic exchange networks, with over 18 years of financial technology and strategic management experience. Juan received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from Northwestern University and his Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management, with concentrations in Entrepreneurship & Innovation.  He went to the Latin School of Chicago and is a Chicago native.  Interestingly, the COO of OFN James Stonebridge also went to NU.

Some background on Pat.  He directs a corporate, M&A, finance and regulatory practice devoted to capital formation, productive innovation and return of and on investment. He leads teams of lawyers that provide the particular array of services needed by each client day to day and has helped clients monetize billions of dollars in sweat equity. As a confidential adviser, he also helps clients resolve sensitive legal matters out of court, quickly and quietly.   Pat went to undergrad at Northwestern and law school at Cornell.

OFN is a portfolio company of WLV and I am on the board.  Lots of purple in that board room.
