Exploration set to commence at Dunnedin's MPD copper-gold project in British Columbia

Dunnedin Ventures Inc (CVE:DVI) announced Thursday that it has mobilized field crews in British Columbia in preparation for a new exploration program at its MPD project.

The Vancouver-based company is planning to survey previous drill holes and trench sites at the 78.5-square kilometre property in southern BC.

The explorer is also looking to prospect new areas of interest and confirm access for possible drill sites. Historic pre-1980 surface trenches are also being resampled to verify mineralization and determine key geological controls at target areas on the property.

Previous work at MPD identified a number of copper showings throughout a 10-square-kilometre area, where copper and gold mineralization extends from the surface. According to Dunnedin, several historic drill holes deeper than 200 metres indicate the size and depth potential for mineralization, representing new drill targets for the 2019 program.

“These are pivotal times at Dunnedin as we embark on programs to advance our copper gold assets, starting with this inaugural program at MPD, followed by work at Trapper and Mohave later in 2019,” said Claudia Tornquist, CEO at Dunnedin.

Tornquist highlighted MPD’s location, just off the highways 5A and 97C, and its proximity to infrastructure in an established mining area as key attributes of the property.

“We are also excited about the project’s large footprint and its promising historic exploration results, which clearly show the potential for a major copper-gold porphyry system,” she said in a statement.

MPD is located in the Quesnel Trough, BC’s primary copper-producing belt that is home to prolific mines from companies like Teck Resources, Imperial Metals and Centerra Gold.

The company said drilling will commence once it has received a multi-year exploration permit from the BC regulators.
