Nerds On Site doubles down on cybersecurity to protect small businesses

Nerds On Site Inc (CSE:NERD) (OTCMKTS:MOSUF) has decided to increase its focus on cybersecurity in order to better protect its existing and future clients. 

The mobile IT solutions company announced the heightened emphasis in a statement Tuesday, citing statistics about the impact of cyber-crime on small and medium-sized enterprises. 

“In a climate where there are significant increases in cybersecurity attacks, and with 43% of cyber attacks aimed at small business, NERDS has made it a priority to provide best of class cybersecurity services,” CEO Charles Regan said in a statement. “In development for the past 3 years, our CyberSecurity Defence and Response programs protect existing clients and rescue new clients who are under attack.”

Cybersecurity used to be just one component, or even an afterthought, of IT best practices, Regan said. Now, it’s more important than ever. 

“It is unfortunate that we operate in such a climate,” Regan said, “However, we are placing a strong emphasis on this segment of the IT sector, recognizing that it is critical to address the threats in a comprehensive way — and as a result we have a very large business opportunity,”

Companies are already bearing the brunt. According to Cybersecurity Ventures, global damage costs from ransomware attacks alone is estimated to reach $11.5 billion in 2019. 

Last year, the research firm Gartner Inc (NYSE:IT) projected that worldwide spending on information security would grow 8.7% to $124 billion in 2019.
