Zinc8 Energy Solutions reaches milestone as its poised to deliver its energy system to unique architectural project in BC

Zinc8 Energy Solutions Inc (CSE:ZAIR) (OTCMKTS:MGXRF) (FRA:0E9) is set to deliver its innovative zinc-air energy storage system to a ground-breaking low energy architectural project in British Columbia on time by December 21 this year, it told investors on Monday. 

The system is designed to deliver power in the range of 20kW to 1MW or more and energy of 160kWh to 8MWh or more and will be deployed at the ‘75 house’ which is currently being built on the estate in Surrey, BC, configured to be 20kW and 80kWh, but it can be easily modified to meet any change in demand, said Zinc8.

It will be integrated with an onsite solar array to provide the main source of power to the estate. 

“The ability to deliver our ‘Zinc-Air Energy Storage System’ on time to the ’75 House’ construction project reinforces our commitment to becoming a leader in the deployment of long-duration energy storage and is a testament to the hard work by the Zinc8 team,” Zinc8 chief executive Ron MacDonald told investors in a statement.

“This is an important milestone as Zinc8 Energy Solutions moves forward to its planned commercial production in early 2023.”

The ’75 house’ was designed by renowned architect Omer Arbel and uses a build technique of pouring concrete into fabric formwork deployed within minimal plywood rib structures.

The design was shortlisted at the World Architecture Festival held in Amsterdam in December last year.

Zinc8 has developed innovative battery technology that uses zinc and air as fuel. Energy is stored in the form of zinc particles, similar in size to grains of sand.

When the system is delivering power, the zinc particles combine with oxygen drawn from the surrounding air. When the system is recharging, zinc particles are regenerated, and oxygen is returned to the surrounding air.

The system can be configured to support a wide range of discharge power, recharge power and duty cycle requirements.
