ElectraMeccanica to start delivering its flagship SOLO electric vehicle to customers in October

ElectraMeccanica Vehicles Corp announced it is beginning to deliver its flagship SOLO electric vehicle to customers.

The Vancouver-based company started production of SOLO, a single-occupant, three-wheeled electric car, last year with its manufacturing partner and strategic investor Zongshen Industrial Group.

ElectraMeccanica said it will officially start giving keys to customers at a special launch event on October 4 in Los Angeles.

A select group of early reservation holders and the firm’s first fleet owners will be among the first to receive keys, ElectraMeccanica said, and deliveries to other customers will increase as production ramps up.

“This is the ‘Key Moment’ we’ve all been eagerly anticipating: We’re announcing the delivery of the first SOLOs to excited customers,” said Paul Rivera, CEO of ElectraMeccanica, in a statement.

“We are revolutionizing the transportation space by providing consumers, fleets, and rideshare users a purpose-built solution to solve today’s urban driving challenges. Our flagship SOLO EV is the perfect answer for enlightened drivers that recognize there is a smarter and better way to ‘Drive SOLO.’”

SOLO, which retails at $18,500, has a range of 100 miles and a top speed of 80 mph. The vehicle features front and rear crumple zones, side impact protection, roll bar, torque-limiting control, as well as power steering, power brakes, air conditioning and a Bluetooth entertainment system.

ElectraMeccanica has set up retail locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington.
