Meat Eaters Beware

I never before have had my sensitivities shocked more than what I saw on this video: www.meat.org/index-2.asp?c=meatnhba1110.  I have also watched videos of beheadings that the terrorists commit upon innocent human beings, but terrorists have not shocked me any more than how the meat-producing animal raisers treat animals in this video.  It is extremely graphic, so if you cannot stand to watch cruelty and gore, please do not watch it.  That is a warning to you.  Humanity must do something to make animal raisers to be more humane with the raising, transporting, and killing of food animals.  This video is unbelievable!

When I was around 14-15 years old, I was a member of the 4-H Club (Head, Heart, Hand, and Health).  We raised Herford beef-steers for a year to show in a 4-H competitive beef-steer show and auction.  I won the showmanship trophy.  Then, they auctioned off the steers for slaughter to provide meat for restaurants.  My beef-steer and I grew to be good friends over that year.  The steer was happy to see me when I came each day to provide him with water, food, and to move him to a more grassy area of the pasture.  My Herford steer was like a pet dog to me as I trained it for the beef-steer show.  He followed me around like a puppy dog.  It was very sad when we parted company after the show and auction.  No doubt about it, they do have feelings and emotions.  Thinking about it brings sadness back to me.

I once saw a television special where the technicians were growing Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken in incubators.  Actual pieces of chicken grew right before your eyes.  It was unbelievable!  I told my next-door neighbor about it.  He absolutely would not believe me.  In his case, he needed to see to believe.

I also worked in the Meat Department of a supermarket when I was in high school in Hawaii.  You would not believe what we put into the hamburger grinder to make cheap hamburger meat.  I could not eat hamburgers for several years after that.  Skin, bones, gristle, fat, sawed dust (from the floor), blood (to make the white fat look like red meat), old smelly/rotten meat, and you name it went into the cheapest hamburger meat that the poor folks (like us) bought at $.19 a pound (1957-58 period).  I can see why some people would buy a big piece of round steak and get us to grind it up in front of them.  They would see exactly what kind of hamburger meat they bought.

With a bunch of kids, my wife stopped at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant to buy hamburgers.  One of the girls in the car opened up a hamburger to see what was in it and found a bunch of trash in there that one of the employees had put in the burger.  My wife called them on it, and they fired the burger-flipper cook.  Unbelievable, but these things go on all the time.  Cops need to be very careful about the food they buy from fast-food restaurants.
