Save Gorgie Farm campaigners have announced the money they have raised may not be used to save the farm, as their crowdfunder reaches over £69,000.

A GoFundMe page was set up to raise £100,000 in a bid to save the much-loved Edinburgh urban farm which closed suddenly on November 1.

Now the organiser and former employee Hannah Ryan has announced to donors that the funds raised could instead go to other charities.

Hannah Ryan said: “While the organisation itself cannot be saved under its former name following advice from the liquidator, we can still work towards securing a future for the site.

“To be clear, if this money cannot be used to help secure a similar future to that of GCF, the money will be donated between Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and Scottish Association for Mental Health.”

The farm, which welcomes around 200,000 visitors a year, have supported over 200 volunteers since January and have educated nearly 2,000 children.
