I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a great 2020!  Our Christmas season started in New York City right after Thanksgiving.  Our church choir was invited to sing in a Christmas cantata at Carnegie Hall, so we spent almost a week in the city, rehearsing and performing.  It was a once in a lifetime experience.  We ended the season with a nice, quiet Christmas.  Our daughter, Anne, played O Holy Night on her violin at the Christmas Eve Mass.  She played beautifully, and it is so nice to see the next generation participate in music at church.  I sing, play the piano and flute, and Scott sings in the choir, and now Anne and Lia play violin and viola. 

Hopefully many of you are enjoying the new 2020 catalog.  They began arriving in your mailboxes right after Christmas, and will be arriving to everyone throughout the month of January.  If you haven’t gotten and don’t want to wait, you can download a copy here or order a copy here.  The free catalogs can take up to a month to arrive.  If you want one quickly, you can pay $2 for postage and we’ll put one in the mail First Class to you.

We added a lot of old and new favorites this year.  When I say new, I mean new to us.  They are all heirlooms, so at least 50 years old and open pollinated.  We added some really interesting winter squashes, great tomatoes, some spectacular shelling beans, some really interesting hot peppers, and a little bit of this and that throughout the catalog.  I can’t wait to plan my own garden! 

This year the transition to new seeds is taking a bit longer than we expected.  We are working hard to get orders out, but it just takes time to pack and fill all the new seed packets.  We are about a week behind, which is an eternity for us.  Things are starting to move a bit faster, so I hope to be all caught up by next weekend.  If you place an order, just be patient.  We’ll get it out to you, I promise.  On that note, we are also in need of people to work here this winter.  If you live near Hudsonville, MI and would like to work at Annie’s, reply to this email.  Hours are flexible, and I think the work is fun and rewarding. 

This is also what I call back order season.  We have most of the seeds in stock, but there are always some that we don’t.  Our shipment from Italy isn’t here yet.  Earlier this week they had lost the shipment, but found it on Friday sitting in customs in Chicago.  Now we are trying to figure out how to get the seeds out of customs and here to Michigan.  Someone might be making a drive to O’Hare this week to pick up the seeds.  Hopefully we’ll have those soon.  We will get the back ordered seeds out to you as soon as they arrive.  Drop us a note if you’d like a substitution or want an update.  We try to get the expected ship dates right, but those are always guesses, and I don’t always guess right.
