Inspired by a trip to a cricket farm in Thailand, the founders of Horizon Edible Insects in London, England, discovered the delectable and delightful crunch of insects and the distinctive contribution they could make to a well-rounded, healthy diet.

“Our jobs had taken us to many places around the world, and we instinctively enjoyed putting our taste buds to the test wherever we went,” the establishment’s website explains.

“It was only when we visited a cricket farm in Thailand, that we discovered the path that led us to where we are now. Thai beer was not our favourite, but we found the crunchy insects they served with it tasted really delicious.”

Horizon operates as an urban edible insect farm in West London.

The insects live out their six- to seven-week lifespan and are then ethically harvested for consumption.

The farm emphasizes the nutritional as well as sustainability benefits of adding insect-based protein into your diet.

“If a family of four switched once a week to an insect-protein meal, it is estimated that 650000 litres of water a year would be saved,” their website states.

Our farm

We are a small West London (U.K.) urban edible insects farm, supplying businesses and the local community in and around London. Our insects are fed a natural diet of hay, bran and vegetables. The insects are harvested at the end of their life-cycle: approximately every six/seven weeks. We take great care to keep our insects comfortable until we harvest them.
