CPS research symposium agenda covers a myriad of food safety topics

Sanitizers, surface treatments, technology, viruses, ag water, packing sheds and Cyclospora are just a few of the topics at this year’s Center for Produce Safety Research Symposium. The symposium is scheduled for June 21-22, 2022 in San Diego, CA.

Thirty-two scientists are going to share the results of their fresh produce food safety research. They have investigated some of industry’s burning produce safety questions, and now welcome input on their findings from attendees. Officials with CPS say that wherever your interests lie across the produce supply chain, there are findings of importance for you.

Special session: What can we learn from the airline industry? 
As the U.S. airline industry’s fatality rate has been driven down to an astonishing 1:120 million departures, modern U.S. air travelers are benefiting from more than a decade of improved safety. How did this happen? Tim York, CEO of California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement, sits down with Randy Babbitt, Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration from 2009 to 2011, to gain insight into the airline industry’s incredible safety success. Then an industry panel discusses what the fresh produce food safety community can learn from the airline and other industries.
