Eastern Mediterranean On Alert As British And French Forces Could Launch Missile Strikes On Syria Within The Next 72 Hours
A coalition force could fire “air-to-ground or cruise missiles” in the wake of a horrifying chemical attack on innocent civilians in Syria last week. Aviation experts AirLive have reported this evening a “rapid alert notification” warning aircraft in the eastern Mediterranean to be wary of a sudden missile strike.

AirLive said the alert was issued by Eurocontrol this evening for a “possible launch … within the next 72 hours”. AirLive said: “According to reports, British forces are mobilising at their bases in Cyprus and Rafale fighter jets could takeoff from St Dizier airbase in France for possible strikes against Syria.”
The Eurocontrol alert said: “Due to the possible launch of air strikes into Syria with air-to-ground and/or cruise missiles within the next 72 hours, and the possibility of intermittent disruption of radio navigation equipment, due consideration needs to be taken when planning flight operations in the Eastern Mediterranean / Nicosia FIR area.”
The UK has said military intervention is a possibility following the chemical attack in Douma.
Syrian opposition activists and rescuers said poison gas was used on the rebel-held town near the capital, an allegation strongly denied by the Assad government. Families were reportedly found suffocated in their homes and shelters, foaming at the mouth.
Reports suggested more than 500 people, mostly women and children, were taken to medical centres with difficulty breathing, foaming at the mouth and burning sensations in the eyes.
The attack comes almost exactly a year after a chemical atrocity in the northern Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun killed dozens of people.
Earlier today Prime Minister Theresa May and U.S. President Donald Trump have said the world must act to ensure those behind a suspected chemical attack in Syria are held to account, as Washington considers a multinational military response.
Mrs May spoke with Mr Trump by telephone on Tuesday afternoon, agreeing that the reported attack was “utterly reprehensible” and that the international community must respond to uphold the worldwide prohibition on chemical weapon use. “They agreed they would continue working closely together and with international partners to ensure that those responsible were held to account,” a statement from Downing Street office said.
Mrs May had earlier agreed the same thing in a call with French President Emmanuel Macron. A White House statement said Trump and May “agreed not to allow the use of chemical weapons to continue”. source

The General Staff of the RUSSIAN ARMED FORCES REVEALED the RESULTS of ANALYSIS of SYRIAN DOUMA SOIL TAKEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER ….the ALLEGED CHEMICAL ATTACK.
“I want to emphasize that ON APRIL 9, A DAY AFTER the ALLEGED CHEMICAL ATTACK in the DOUMA, RUSSIAN MILITARY SPECIALISTS in the field of radiation, chemical and biological defense, as well as military doctors ARRIVED DIRECTLY TO THE SITE of the ALLEGED INCIDENT, ” First Deputy Head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Viktor Poznihir said.
He noted that THE EXPERTS “TOOK SOIL SAMPLES, collected fragments from the so-called place of the alleged chemical weapons attack,” stressing that
THEIR EXPERTISE “SHOWED the ABSENCE of NERVE AGENTS and CHLORINE-CONTAINING POISONOUS SUBSTANCES.”
“As a result of the examination of the territory, the visit to the medical facility shown on the set of the White Helmets, the interview of the medical staff and the patients, neither facts of the use of poisonous substances nor injured among the inhabitants of this city were detected,” he stressed.
Comment: This is consistent with the fact that the WHITE HELMETS WERE AGAIN FOUND….NOT WEARING PROTECTIVE GEAR…DURING THE ALLEGED INCIDENT.
The experts have investigated the reports that appeared in early April, when several media outlets, citing Syrian militants, accused Damascus of carrying out a chemical weapons attack in the town of Douma.
The First Deputy Head specified Moscow’s steps to ensure security in the area amid the standoff over the alleged chemical attack, by saying that the Russian military police will be deployed in the Syrian town of Douma in Eastern Ghouta on April 12.
“Starting tomorrow, in order to ensure security, maintain law and order and organize assistance to the local population units of the Russian military police will be deployed in the town of Douma,” Poznikhir said.
Situation in Eastern Ghouta: Hazram Poisonous Substances Workshop
However, he recalled the Russian Military reports on the possible chemical attack by militants in the area, speaking about a militant workshop for the production of explosive items with poisonous substances that has been found in the Syrian town of Hazram at the beginning of March, according to Armed Forces of the Russian Federation General Staff.

“One such example (on the provocations) was the discovery on March 3 of one of the underground tunnels in the town of Hazram, which turned out to be a militant workshop of for the backyard production of explosives with poisonous substances,” he said.
He stressed that the residents of Eastern Ghouta were provided with the necessary humanitarian assistance, both through the United Nations and the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation.
In January, the Russian center for Syrian reconciliation reported that Syrian terrorists were preparing provocations involving chemical warfare agents in Eastern Ghouta, which, they said, would be used by Western states as a pretext for accusing Damascus of the use of chemical weapons against the Syrian civilian population.
