Breast Cancer Vaccine Makes Mother's Milk a Disease

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Scientists have prevented breast cancer in mice by vaccinating them. There’s a bit of a problem, though. It creates antibodies against a vital ingredient in mother’s milk. That, of course, doesn’t bother the researchers. They’re going ahead full steam with plans to test it in women.

Vaccine’s Target—A Critical Ingredient in Mother’s Milk

The vaccine targets α-lactalbumin (alpha-lactalbumin) because it’s found in most cancer cells. It’s also found in the breasts of lactating women and is one of the most important proteins found in mother’s milk. It accounts for 25-35% of human whey protein. It’s noted for a range of important functions in babies, including:

  • Providing amino acids, the building blocks of protein. Without it, babies cannot grow.
  • Lessening stomach upset.
  • Helping sleep by providing tryptophan.
  • Supporting healthy kidney function.
  • Absorption of minerals, such as zinc.
  • Helping develop good probiotics in the gut, and may help prevent harmful bacteria.
  • Boosting the immune system.
  • Promoting healing.

Logic Behind the Vaccine

Most vaccines target organisms that cause disease. Since no breast cancer causing critter has been found, Vincent K. Tuohy of the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio looked at α-lactalbumin. Since it’s found in most breast cancer cells, he reasoned that forcing the body to treat it as a foreign substance would result in the immune system destroying cells containing the substance. So far, it appears to be working in lab mice.

That’s fine, but it’s obviously well outside of nature; it isn’t even an attempt to mimic nature, as has been usual in vaccines. While the mice were carefully examined for their ability to avoid breast cancer, there’s little evidence to suggest that adverse results received the same sort of scrutiny. The only negative effects the study looked at were inflammatory activity in non-cancerous breast cells. Its effects on other parts of mouse bodies don’t appear to have been considered.

Tuohy imagines a vaccination program that targets adult women over age 40. He surmises:

When you are an adult, you could be vaccinated against adult diseases like breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, and so forth. Maybe even Alzheimer’s.

The Primary Error

Exactly what the effects of this vaccine will be are difficult to predict, but one thing is sure: When modern medicine tries to fool Mother Nature, the results are usually dismal. Cancers do not occur out of thin air. They happen as a response to an unhealthy condition in the body.

It’s likely that much breast cancer is related to…
