WHO: EBOLA DEATH RATE RISES TO 70 PERCENT

The death rate in the Ebola outbreak has risen to 70 percent and there could be up to 10,000 new cases a week in two months, the World Health Organization warned Tuesday.

WHO assistant director-general Dr. Bruce Aylward gave the grim figures during a news conference in Geneva. Previously, WHO had estimated the death rate at around 50 percent.

Turkey conducts airstrikes on Kurdish targets

Turkish warplanes have bombed Kurdish rebels targets in a southern province near the country’s border with Iraq.

The rebel forces known as the PKK are engaged in fighting Islamic State fighters but have only held a ceasefire with Turkish government troops since March 2013.

INDIANA POLICE: TOUR BUS CRASHES, SEVERAL INJURED

A double-decker passenger bus flipped onto its side early Tuesday on a highway near Indianapolis after apparently swerving to avoid a minor crash, badly injuring one person and hurting more than a dozen others.

The bus carrying between 50 and 60 people crashed about 4:30 this morning on Interstate 65 when its driver apparently tried to avoid the accident that had occurred about 10 minutes earlier.
