Vaping CBD Oil for Better Sleep

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Insomnia: it is common and often unrelenting. Restlessness, daytime sleepiness, and general poor quality sleep are also wide-spread. A study performed in Staffordshire, UK concluded that older individuals are typically more prone to such disturbances, and often times there is more than one contributing factor. All of these factors are intertwined, and ultimately have the same end result of either poor sleep or the inability to sleep all together. Of course, this makes life not only difficult but also a bit miserable. Not wanting to endure another day of tiredness, you might find yourself looking for a better solution than a double shot of espresso every morning and afternoon.

Many people have heard that CBD (cannabidiol) can help with sleep, but even more people associate CBD with the other infamous cannabis compound THC, which is what produces a psychoactive effect or “high”. For this reason, despite the help cannabidiol can provide, it is met with a lot of reluctance. If it doesn’t cause the notorious drowsy “high” we often see in the media and referenced in pop culture, does it really help with better quality sleep? Studies show that not only can it help you get the amount of rest you need, but it is also a safer, more natural option, and with the right method of use, like premium CBD vape oil, you can have a treatment that is more tailored to your specific needs.

How Does CBD Work?

Unlike THC, CBD does not produce any psychoactive effects. Even so, it still has the ability to aid the body in a variety of processes. This is due to our endocannabinoid system (ECS) and how it interacts with cannabinoids like CBD. The ECS is a system that regulates a number of things like memory, appetite, metabolism, and our sleep-wake cycle and circadian rhythm, just to name a few. It is ultimately tasked with maintaining equilibrium (balance) within the body.

The ECS runs throughout the entire body with cannabinoid receptors, which are what interact with both endocannabinoids (cannabinoids we have naturally within us) and cannabinoids (like THC and CBD that occur in external sources, like the cannabis plant). These receptors are located on the surface of our cells, monitoring conditions on the outside of the cells and reporting any changes to the inside of the cells. Based on the information that is transmitted, an appropriate response is triggered in order to make adjustments to maintain balance. Many things can affect our sleep cycles, from stress to environment. Simply put, the ECS monitors these things, and when something disrupts our necessary balance, it tells the body, “hey, this isn’t quite right”, and the body then sets out to fix things. When a cannabinoid like CBD is introduced into the body, it further activates, binds, and interacts with certain receptors, producing a variety of results.

How Does CBD Help with Sleep?

While there is some evidence thus far that indicates CBD may have a direct impact on the ECS and how it maintains our wake-sleep cycle, the majority of promise lies in its ability to treat some of the most common causes of poor sleep, like anxiety and pain. Research shows that CBD interacts with the 5-HT1A serotonin receptors; this type of receptor is found throughout the body in both the central and peripheral nervous systems, and is involved with neurological processes like feelings of anxiety (or lack thereof). When taken in the right concentration, CBD activates these receptors, which then present an anti-anxiety affect. Its affect on the production of serotonin can also be seen, as it prompts an increase and helps ease depression and other psychological issues that stem from serotonin insufficiency. CBD can also bind to receptors, which is the case with the TRPV1 receptors. These receptors help to maintain proper body temperature and mediate pain perception, which is why the binding of CBD can help reduce pain. By providing relief from anxiety and a reduction in pain, better quality sleep comes as a natural result.

Optimizing the Results

Different effects seen by CBD involve different dosages, and it is also highly dependent upon the individual. Relieving pain, reducing anxiety, and improving other mood disorders can require a high, concentrated dose of the compound in some people in order to see the desired results, whereas others may experience benefits from a much smaller dose. While ingestion may seem like an obvious choice, vaporizing CBD oil actually has a higher bio availability and faster uptake. That not only means it’s more efficient and easier to administer the specific amount that you need (whether it’s high or low), but it also takes affect more quickly, which is particularly useful when you’re aiming to treat pain or anxiety and achieve better sleep. Vaping CBD oil is still a newer process compared to things like oral supplements, but don’t worry; there’s a lot of info available to guide you through the process. You can easily find a good CBD vape oil guide and construct a custom treatment regimen that is specific to your needs.

Treating with CBD (or anything else for that matter) is not the only thing you can do that is conductive to a good night’s sleep. Eliminating substances that cause stimulating effects (like caffeine), reducing over-stimulation caused by TV, smart phones, and video games, creating a comfortable sleeping space that makes you feel relaxed, and implementing a sleep-time routine can all help you catch more shut-eye. Combing several or all of these things is even more ideal.

The nature of sleep is so complex; there is still a lot to learn and explore. What we do know without a doubt is that quality sleep is absolutely vital for health, productivity, and happiness. By introducing natural CBD oil and gaining better sleep, you’re taking a giant leap towards a better quality of life. Tiredness breeds lack of focus, poor mood (aka “I hate Mondays”), and an overall unwell state of being. When you wake up refreshed, however, it can lead to sharp concentration, better mood, and the ability to tackle your day and anything it brings because you simply feel and function so much better. In this way, you can get that promotion you’re after, score a 4.0 GPA, finally organize the garage, whatever your goals may be- and it all starts with your eyes closed.
