Stress Relievers You Probably Don't Know About

Stress is a condition that no one likes to have. It impedes you from functioning normally, which is all the more reason why many Americans spend hundreds of dollars trying to get rid of it. From attending psychiatric sessions to doing guided meditation, we all have this notion that the cure to stress is found somewhere.

Then again, all this mindless spending on supposed stress “treatments” often goes nowhere because they all have one thing in common: They don’t work! They are just products that make you want to consume more without actually providing relief whatsoever.

Fortunately, we now live in the Information Age when our health isn’t solely in the hands of corporate oligarchs who make money off of the anxieties we go through each day. Today, it’s easier to find treatments to common emotional maladies.

There are other, more effective and less inhibitive ways to manage stress.

 

1. Cannabidiol oil

Cannabis has been used for centuries as a form of anaesthetic. Many of the world’s major religions have documented its medical use throughout history. Over time, it has taken several forms in treating the effects of anxiety and stress. Cannabidiol oil or CBD oil, for instance, has become almost a miracle drug for treating emotional distress. Despite strict regulation over its use in some states, more and more people are taking an interest in CBD’s therapeutic properties.

 

2. Creative therapy

It may seem absurd for many science buffs, but channeling stress through wholesome and creative activity can actually help relieve stress. Also called creative therapy, this method provides a form of catharsis that allows a person suffering from stress to offload any and all the emotional baggage that sustain the symptoms of this condition. Drawing, painting, composing a song, or any other creative endeavor can definitely help you lighten the load that you have to deal with.

 

3. Essential oils

To some, using essential oils as a stress-relieving method seems to be just another millennial trope. But what’s virtually ignored is the proven effectiveness of essential oils in combating emotional and even physical distress. Aromatherapy is backed up by science and it does work well in treating anxiety; perhaps so well that essential oils are often thought of to be more potent compared to commercial anti-anxiety pills. Sure enough, the popularity of essential oils has reached an all-time high as people opt out of Big Pharma products look to independent brands such as Plant Therapy for stress-relief alternatives.

 

4. Acupressure

As far as alternative stress-relievers go, this should be a staple in any list you find online. A practice dating back to Ancient China, this method involves releasing tension in the muscles. Negative energy is said to be the cause of stress, and for it to seep out of one’s body, it has to be released through specific points that are punctured by needles. It seems silly to a lot of psychiatrists, but the fact that acupuncture has endured the test of time attests to its effectiveness.

 

So, whenever you feel stressed out, think of these alternatives instead of the approaches you’re familiar with!
