Health is monumental in the development of the body and the brain. According to recent statistics, there has been a surge in the incidences of health-related issues in our educational institutes. From mental health to physical health to social health, the college student is overall a victim of poor health.
 
Health education is a combination of all learning and social activities geared toward improving the life of an individual. It is a term derived from two words; health and education. The definition of health has evolved to encompass all aspects affecting man. Where health revolves around the individual and that which affects the individual, health education equips and empowers them on the necessary knowledge and skills for survival.
 
Attaining the best health more so to the college student is vital. Health education makes sure that the college student is fully armored to deal with anything thrown in his way. From adapting to the new environment, to dealing with new people, to maintaining stress healthily to maintaining a balance between academics and social life; health education purposely prepares the college student for this and many more.

• Primary Health Education

 
It incorporates all efforts aimed at the grassroots level. Equipping the individual with the necessary skills for survival is vital. It involves full participation and involvement of people with matters regarding their health. The main aim of primary health education is to prevent the occurrence of a health-related issue and to improve the life of an individual. • Secondary Health Education

 
It entails all learning and social activities geared towards improving the life of a community. For example, when conveying the significance and the importance of better nutrition to the community. The main aim of secondary health education is to reduce the impact of a health-related issue.
 

• Tertiary Health Education

 
It involves a greater community compared to secondary health education. An instance mostly seen is through the use of mass media.

The main aim of health education is to empower college students with the essential knowledge and skills to combat life in college. The environment in college puts the college student in a vulnerable position. From the mountains of assignments to trying to strike a balance between academics and college, integrating health education is a must so that the college student benefits from it.
 
Health education has led to a better lifestyle for college students. Nowadays, more and more college students seek help on matters concerning their health, therefore, improving the overall health of college students. Below are some aspects that health education has made better.

Most of the health-related issues like depression, anxiety issues, and suicidal cases are associated with a lack of adequate sleep. The proper amount of sleep should be between 7-9 hours. The college student is seen not to have enough time on their hand. Adequate slumber is prime in improving ones’ moods, increasing ones’ intellect, and reducing the chances of depression.
