Cheap versus legal labor in the USA

If you immigrated to China, you would enjoy something in the neighborhood of 22 to 88 cents an hour for your labors.  If you live in Mexico, you would make a whopping $5.00 per day.  By migrating to America, you will make $7.00 per hour.

What makes the disparity?  Why the differences?  First, with 1.3 billion people, China can pay tiny wages to a hungry population.  In a place like Mexico, its third world corruption and lack of jobs gives it the ability to pay starvation wages to its citizens. The ruling elite don’t care.   In the United States, its laws dictate that even the lowest worker enjoys a minimum wage.

Yet, illegal immigration continues to harm America’s lowest wage workers because its leaders in Congress continue to serve the capitalistic masters.  The market dictates wages when Congress continues to flood this country with immigrants, both legal and illegal.

Josh Hutchinson brings the points home:

“I’m so sick of people that don’t understand capitalism and economics,” said Hutchinson. “All they want to do is blame employers. Politicians shout this from the rooftops to absolve themselves of responsibility and numskulls eat it right up.

“When the government allows cheap labor to flood over an open border, the only guilty employers are those first to hire the cheap labor in each industry.  Their competitors are then FORCED to hire it too or else they will not be able to compete!  When I say “forced,” I mean forced to decide if they want to hire the cheap labor or go out of business.  No American should be forced to make that decision.  The government should do its job and serve the interests of citizens.  

“If the government did not allow the cheap labor in, the cost of labor would be higher, but it would be higher for everyone, meaning businesses could pass the cost of labor onto their customers across the board and keep profits intact.

“So rather than lay the blame where it rightfully lies, folks want to blame rich people and capitalism.  I don’t even blame the first employers in each industry, you know why?  BECAUSE THEIR BEING CAPITALISTS!!!  And capitalism is what has made this country the greatest in history! We should secure the border and eject cheap illegal labor before discouraging Americans from being capitalists!

“With that said, I realize that there is an abundance of cheap labor here now–at the fault of politicians–and that it is a problem.  I do think a necessary solution is to penalize employers now to eliminate the job magnet, but stop with the greedy rich people.  This problem was created by our elected officials.  You sound like all the losers who blow their life away with poor decisions and whine about not having what they want once they wake up and realize they’re old and filled with regret.  

“That’s not American, it’s a disgrace!  Nobody owes anyone anything. It’s called freedom!  You’re free to succeed and you’re free to be a loser!  And if you want to be a loser, that’s fine! But understand that you make your own bed in this country, so don’t moan when it’s full of (expletive) and you have to lie in it.

“We capitalists are going to run your rear ends over whether you like it or not!  Because we’re smarter and we work harder and we’re not afraid to bleed and sacrifice our lives for what is right. Get with the program and wise up.”   

As Walter Cronkite used to say, “And that’s the way it is.”
