Teen arrested at the border trafficking drugs with a remote-controlled car

The Border Patrol arrested a 16-year-old teenager accused of trying to transport methamphetamine across the U.S.-Mexico border with a remote-controlled car.

Through a releaseThe authorities reported that the young man, whose name was not disclosed, was arrested last Sunday in possession of the drug with an estimated value of $ 106,000.

The young man of American nationality was first detected by the agents near midnight on November 17, when he was walking near the border wall with two canvas bags.

When the agents approached him they discovered that he carried 50 packages of methamphetamine that weighed approximately 56 pounds and a remote controlled car.

According to the official report, this is not the first time a similar case has been reported at the border on the transfer of drugs between Mexico and the United States. In 2017, a group of drug traffickers flew a remote-controlled drone to launch a methamphetamine package, which also resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old man who was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

“I am extremely proud of the increased vigilance and hard work of the agents to stop this unusual smuggling scheme,” said San Diego sector patrol chief agent Douglas Harrison.
