Iguala: Judge Issues Arrest Warrant Against Tomás Zerón

Since the end of March, Interpol has been searching for Tomás Zerón, after the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) requested that an alert be issued to locate the former official.

Tomás Zerón de Lucio is a fugitive from justice in Mexico and is wanted in several countries, because while he was head of the AIC at the time of the PGR “he witnessed and tolerated the torture of detainees to integrate” the investigation into the case of the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa normalistas.

Judge Samuel Sánchez, head of the Eighth District Court in matters of Amparo and Federal Trials of the State of Mexico reported that the arrest warrant was issued within criminal case 112/2020.

Therefore, if the former official is captured in Mexican territory, he must be transferred to the Oriente Prison. In June, Zerón filed an amparo in a court in the State of Mexico against the arrest warrant issued by a judge in Guerrero.

If Tomás Zerón is detained abroad, diplomatic procedures must be carried out for his extradition.
