“HEARST” for Borderland Beat

An alleged Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) member was caught carrying a narcomanta (narco message sign) by members of law enforcement in Tijuana, Baja California. He was arrested while he was presumably traveling to place the narcomanta.

On July 10 2021, a suspicious male was walking on Abelardo L. Rodriguez street in the Presidentes neighborhood of Tijuana. The suspicious male was wearing a short-sleeved black shirt, green shorts and black tennis shoes. When he spotted ahead of him a group of police officers so he tried to dispose of the firearm he had on him by tossing his firearm into a nearby planter.
The officers evidently noticed this behavior and they made a move towards him, prompting the suspicious male to run. The officers chased after him. A National Guard unit was called in to aid with the chase and then the suspicious male was successfully apprehended.

The gun that he had tried to dispose of in the planter was recovered by officers. It appears to be a 3rd Gen Glock, 9mm, compact, made from the Polymer80 Frame Kit, most likely the PF940C kit. It had a black plastic magazine, loaded with 12 useful cartridges as well as one more in the chamber.
During the arrest it was discovered that the male was carrying a narcomanta sign folded in the pocket of his shorts.
The sign was a 65×40 centimeter white cardboard with red, black and blue letters on it which read as follows:

La Barredora (the sweeper) here is still taking down rats and filthy chapulines.

From,
La Mera Verga

Chapulines refer to criminals that switch cartel affiliations. The detainee was later identified as Jorge Iván Aguilar Rodriguez. According to ZETA Tijuana, Aguilar Rodriguez identified himself as a member of the Cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG).
