AMLO Hasn't Ruled 'El Chapo' Guzman's Request To Return To Mexico

Due to the possible violation of human rights, the possibility of attending the request of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán to return to Mexico, who claims “psychological torture” at the ADX Florence prison in the United States, cannot be ruled out, said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The drug trafficker’s defense claimed that his client suffers discrimination in the prison where he is being held in Colorado, as he is prohibited from speaking Spanish and communicating with other inmates, in addition to having fewer calls allowed to family members.
In this regard, President López Obrador said in his morning conference that the issue is being reviewed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Marcelo Ebrard.
“When it comes to human rights, there are international channels and instances. So, we can’t rule this out because the main human right is the right to life. We have to see if this can go forward or not, if we have, as Marcelo (Ebrard) mentions, the possibility, the power to do so,” he said.
