St. Cloud Woman Linked To Sinaloa Cartel Captured In Mexico

She is accused of being part of a group that smuggled drugs from Mexico to North Dakota and Minnesota.
Deanna M. Gerads, a 33-year-old St. Cloud woman on the run from authorities for more than a year, was apprehended in Mexico earlier this month.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Gerads was captured Aug. 1 by Mexican immigration authorities and deported from Mexico. She was wanted in North Dakota for drug trafficking and will be charged by North Dakota prosecutors with conspiracy to distribute and import controlled substances into the United States.
According to the charges, Gerads was involved in a drug-trafficking operation in narcotics from the Sinaloa cartel were trafficked into the U.S., including 150 pounds of methamphetamine into North Dakota and Minnesota in 2021 and 2022.
“The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was instrumental in providing information that led to the apprehension of Gerads, who has been a fugitive for over a year,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a release.
